Prepare to see double next month as Louisiana's first celebration of twins will be held in Houma.

Twinfest encourages all twins, multiples, their friends and family to come out for a day of music, entertainment and games. The festival will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 6 in downtown Houma at the courthouse square.

Sherry and Cherry Wilmore, the twin minds bethind the festival, are activists and social media personalities known as "Everybody's Favorite Twins." The two were raised in the foster care system and donate laptops to children within the foster system each year.

The festival is set to become the duo's main source of fundraising for their nonprofit, CHeriSH Times Two. Sherry was looking for a way to hold a festival that would be unique and appeal to everyone of all walks of life.

"We were looking for a fundraiser to create an operating budget for our nonprofit," Cherry Wilmore said. "Something that was multicultural that would bring people to our area and was unique."

The festival will have live music, a kids section and arts and crafts. The musical lineup includes MLK Choir, Nonc Nu and da Wild Matous and Go D.J. Twins. The kids' section will include a petting zoo, horse rides, arts and crafts and a foam jet. The True Orleans Brass Band will hold a second line march through the area to signal the start of the awards ceremony.

There will be two honor walls at the bandstand. One honoring twins and multiples who have passed on, and the other to honor children, parents, and others who live, work or help in the foster care system. These will be packed up and brought back each year of the festival.
