Stephanie K. Sterling, will become the new executive director of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Baton Rouge effective July 1.

According to a news release, she will follow David C. Aguillard, who announced his retirement effective June 30 after 15 years leading the organization.

Sterling currently serves as director of family services at Catholic Charities and rose to the position after joining the agency as an adoption social worker in 2012, per the release.

Sterling also created and implemented a peer-to-peer mentoring program, which was recognized by The Aspen Institute and the Catholic Charities USA Disaster Institute as a model of innovation.
