SEC women's basketball power rankings: Can LSU challenge South Carolina in Greenville?

When LSU women's basketball is playing at its best, there's not a more entertaining team in the Southeastern Conference.

Kim Mulkey and the Tigers (24-4, 11-3 SEC) have won six straight games, have locked a double-bye in Greenville for the SEC Tournament and one more win out of two matchups at Georgia and Kentucky will clinch the No. 2 seed.

LSU star Angel Reese put it best after helping her team knock off Tennessee in Rocky Top on Sunday: "Get yo money up!"

Reese, along with Flau'jae Johnson, Hailey Van Lith, who had a season-high 26 points in the Tigers' 75-60 win over the Lady Vols, have continued to raise the price over the last few weeks. The only question is, are they charging enough to challenge the top cash cow in No. 1 South Carolina next week in Greenville?

1. South Carolina (27-0, 14-0)

Last week: No. 1

Up next: Feb. 29 at Arkansas; March 3 Tennessee

Dawn Staley and company earned the outright SEC regular season championship with Kamilla Cardoso relaxing, sipping tea on the bench. It just doesn't get deeper than that.

2. LSU (24-4, 11-3)

Last week: No. 2

Up next: Feb. 29 at Georgia; March 3 Kentucky

3. Alabama (21-8, 8-6)

Last week: No. 4

Up next: Feb. 29 Florida; March 3 at Texas A&M

Aaliyah Nye broke Alabama's record for most 3-pointers in a single game against Mississippi State, draining eight and now holds the program record for 3's in a season, not at 100. Alabama is shooting up these rankings behind Nye's shooting.

4. Ole Miss (20-7, 10-4)

Last week: No. 5

Up next: Feb. 29 at Kentucky; March 3 Arkansas

Four wins in a row for the Rebs and with wins over Kentucky and Arkansas to close out the regular season with their longest win streak of the season at six games. Coach Yo and Ole Miss with momentum could be dangerous.

5. Tennessee (16-10, 9-5)

Last week: No. 3

Up next: Feb. 29 Texas A&M; March 3 at South Carolina

Tennessee tanked in the final 7:30 against LSU. The Lady Vols have 10 losses on the season and the room for error to land an NCAA Tournament at-large is getting slimmer. Another game against South Carolina on the road before the SEC Tournament is brutal.

6. Vanderbilt (20-8, 7-7)

Last week: No. 8

Up next: Feb. 29 at Missouri; March 3 Georgia

Vanderbilt has to jack up Shea Ralph's contract and buyout, right? She's led the Commodores to the program's first 20-win season since 2012-13 and come season's end, she's going to be highly pursued.

7. Auburn (17-10, 6-8)

Last week: No. 10

Up next: Feb. 29 Mississippi State; March 3 at Florida

Did you know Auburn is 27 points away from being 12-2 in SEC play? Auburn has made more close games than any other team in the league and with that suffocating defense, I promise none of the top teams, maybe outside South Carolina, want to see Auburn in Greenville.

8. Mississippi State (20-9, 7-7)

Last week: No. 6

Up next: Feb. 29 at Auburn; March 3 Missouri

Superstitions aren't working for Mississippi State, according to Sam Purcell. Four straight losses as State's in freefall. Bulldogs better find a lucky charm, quick.

9. Texas A&M (18-9, 6-8)

Last week: No. 9

Up next: Feb. 29 at Tennessee; March 3 Alabama

LAST WEEK'S SEC WBB POWER RANKINGSSEC women's basketball power rankings: South Carolina sights set on SEC tournament 1 seed

No team in the SEC needs a flawless final week of the regular season than Texas A&M. A loss to Auburn puts the Aggies squarely on the bubble to make the NCAA Tournament once again. A losing conference record will prevent A&M from making it.

10. Arkansas (18-11, 6-8)

Last week: No. 7

Up next: Feb. 29 South Carolina; March 3 at Ole Miss

Feels like the Hogs can start prepping to host the first couple of games of the Women's NIT.

11. Florida (14-12, 5-9)

Last week: No. 11

Up next: Feb. 29 at Alabama; March 3 Auburn

Florida lost to Georgia by 16... It's unspeakable.

12. Georgia (12-15, 3-11)

Last week: No. 13

Up next: Feb. 29 LSU; March 3 at Vanderbilt

Georgia won a game (!!) by 16 points when it toppled Florida at home. Just Georgia's second win in 13 games.

13. Kentucky (11-17, 4-10)

Last week: No. 12

Up next: Feb. 29 Ole Miss; March 3 at LSU

Kentucky didn't lose to South Carolina by 50... That's something to celebrate, right?

14. Missouri (11-16, 2-12)

Last week: No. 14

Up next: Feb. 29 Vanderbilt; March 3 at Mississippi State

I think Mizzou started looking for the reset button on the season about two and a half months ago.
