Meet the Shreveport Times All-City high school football team for the 2021 season

The 2021 Shreveport Times All-City football team encompasses the 19 football schools within Caddo and Bossier parishes. The Times All-Area football team will be released next week. It includes schools in Bienville, Claiborne, DeSoto, Jackson, Lincoln, Natchitoches, Red River and Webster parishes.

Offensive Player of the Year

Landry Lyddy

Calvary, Sr.

Position: Quarterback

Ht: 6-0 Wt: 185

Why chosen: The Louisiana Tech signee and early enrollee had 4,247 yards after completing 232 of 317 passes for 53 touchdowns. He was the Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year.

Captain Shreve, Sr.

Ht: 6-2 Wt: 240

Why chosen: The senior Southern-Baton Rouge signee was a dominating force in the line for the Gators finishing with 45 tackles, 19 tackles for a loss with 12 sacks and 18 hurries.

Coy Brotherton

Parkway

Why chosen: After falling to Byrd and Captain Shreve during the regular season, the Panthers could have folded their tents. But Brotherton guided them to an 8-5 record, which included a playoff victory over the favored Gators, to earn the LHSAA Class 5A quarterfinals.

Why chosen: Although undersized, Aillet helped Byrd rush for almost 3,600 yards.

Why chosen: When the Gators needed a first down, they ran behind McHenry. 

Peyton Polk

Haughton, Jr.

Ht: 6-4 Wt: 290

Why chosen: Polk has the size for a DI lineman and played like one in 2021.

Why chosen: Walker was at his best creating a pocket for quarterback Mason Welch.

Why chosen: Opening holes for 1,000-yard rushers Jaylan White and Ron Richmond made Hall a standout.

Why chosen: The Alabama signee and early enrollee had 107 career receptions, the third most in school history, for 1,512 yards, fourth most at Shreve.

Why chosen: The Nebraska signee caught 50 passes for 813 yards as a junior and 30 for 200 as a senior with a freshman quarterback.

Why chosen: The LSU commit caught 76 passes for 1,502 yards and 20 touchdowns.

Why chosen: Lafitte passed for 1,530 yards and 17 touchdowns, rushed for 1,036 yards and 18 scores, made 7 of 8 field goals and 45 of 49 PATs, kicked off, punted and recorded 65 tackles with two interceptions for the Flyers.

Why chosen: Black has been offered by Mississippi State after finishing with 1,846 yards and 27 touchdowns.

Why chosen: Murray hit 13 of 16 field goals with a long of 47 yards. He scored 84 points and nailed 45 of 46 PATs.

Why chosen: With offers from McNeese and Southeastern, Applewhite finished with 57 tackles, 17 for a loss, 10 sacks and four forced fumbles.

Why chosen: Ford anchored the interior of the Byrd defense with 44 tackles, including seven for a loss, and two sacks. 

Ray Mayweather

Ht: 6-2 Wt: 190

Why chosen: When it came to rushing the quarterback, few did it better than Mayweather, who finished with 12 sacks.

Woody Cabrera

Northwood, Sr.

Ht: 6-0 Wt: 180

Why chosen: Cabrera led the Falcon defense with 58 tackle and three sacks.
